In 1995, a decision was made that would forever change the complexion of city living. At the height of traffic jam snarls and office space scarcity in Kuala Lumpur, two organizations with a rich history and impressive record of urban centre development conceived an idea that would help ease the congestion in our capital city. The IGB Corporation and joint venture partner Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur or better known as the KL City Hall proposed a plan for a RM 2.3 billion mixed use urban centre sited on 50 acres of prime land in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's Central Business District.

Planned to encompass a 14 year development period, it would be built as a city within a city. The first phase of development is the Mid Valley Megamall a 4.5 million square feet retail centre that will be complemented by an impressive office tower block, 30 signature offices and a 680 room hotel.

Subsequent development would witness the building of an international convention centre and additional office and retail centres. This is scheduled to be complemented at the turn of the millennium.

With the benefit of a rich history in urban development, the partners have taken the initiative of planning for convenient access to this impressive centre. Visitors will be feted by a choice of transportation modes such as the Express Rail Link from venues as distant as the KL International Airport and newly built access roads from existing urban areas around the city.
